The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance ("DTF") files warrants with the New York State Department of State pursuant to Chapter 60, Article 8, Section 171-i of the Tax Law to enforce collection of child support and/or combined spousal and child support arrears. The Department of State maintains an electronic database of the warrant-related notices filed by DTF. These notices may be searched by debtor name, by debtor city, by county of warrant filing, or by any combination of the foregoing. On or after July 1, 2025, all warrants are filed with the Department of State and the search displays the information constituting the official warrant. For records displayed with an effective date prior to July 1, 2025, official warrants should be obtained from the respective county clerk where filed. Inquiries regarding warrants in general should be directed to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
