Below are descriptions and examples on how to define the search criteria to retrieve information for business entities.
This input box is where the name of the business entity being searched for is entered. The entity name may be entered in upper, lower or mixed case. Based on the Search Type selected (see below) the entity name may be entered in various ways. In general, entering a larger portion of the name will result in fewer entity names being listed. Windows uses may access this field using the keyboard by pressing the Alt 1 key combination. Macintosh uses may access this field using the Control 1 key combination.
One of two types of names must be selected. Selecting a Name Type of Active Only will search only active entity names. Selecting a Name Type of All will search both active and inactive entity names. Windows uses may access this field using the keyboard by pressing the Alt 2 key combination. Macintosh uses may access this field using the Control 2 key combination.
One of three types of searches must be selected. Windows uses may access this field using the keyboard by using the keyboard by pressing the Alt 3 key combination. Macintosh uses may access this field using the Control 3 key combination. Following is a description of each search type:
This type of search requires the exact beginning part or entire entity name to be entered. Below are some examples of how the name AT&T CELLULAR SERVICES, INC. can be searched:
This type of search also requires that the non alpha-numeric characters be entered exactly as they appear in the entity name. In the last two examples above, if the comma had been omitted the business entity name would not be found.
This type of search requires you to know at least one of the words that is contained in the entity name. When entering multiple words, the order of the words does not matter. Below are examples of how the name AT&T CELLULAR SERVICES, INC. can be searched:
This type of search does not require non alpha-numeric characters to be entered.
This search is similar to the Contains search. The only difference is the last word entered may be a partial word. Below are examples of how the name AT&T CELLULAR SERVICES, INC. can be searched:
This type of search does not require non alpha-numeric characters to be entered. This type of search may This type of search may take longer then the Contains search and may also list more business entity names.

Submits the search request. This button can be selected using any of the following methods:
